Kynance Cove Cornwall Beach Wedding Photographer.
Let me take you on a journey, back to where my imagination really began to form, back to the South West of England where for many years I lived and spent my formative years walking on misty moors, on sandy coves and watching in the rain the crashing ocean’s waves against rugged cliffs. It would be so wonderful to work as a Kynance Cove Cornwall Beach Wedding Photographer so I created this bridal inspiration shoot with some of the best suppliers in the UK wedding industry.
This is the England that was hugely formative to me in my younger years and is increasingly informing how I shoot, what appeals to me as a Cornwall fine art wedding photographer. I wrote a bit more about my experiences in Cornwall in my blog recently.
I have always been fascinated the mythology of the Sirens and when first putting together my ideas for the shoot, I couldn’t escape the call or at least the imagery that thinking of the Siren song was creating in my mind. Of course the mythology goes that Sirens lured sailors to their untimely demise from their song that lured sailors to the rocks and shipwrecking their vessels. Not exactly romantic, but there is something powerful and emotive in the thought of a call going out over the waters of a real ocean…
Long afloat on shipless oceans
I did all my best to smile
‘Til your singing eyes and fingers
Drew me loving to your isle
And you sang, “Sail to me, sail to me, let me enfold you.”
Here I am, here I am, waiting to hold you.
lyrics from Tim Buckley’s ‘Song to the Siren‘
Oh my heart,
Is waiting to hold you…
Credits and thanks…
This editorial was shot entirely on film which as a Cornwall fine art wedding photographer is extremely important to my aesthetic. I can’t thank Anna from This Modern Love Bridal for the beautiful bespoke gown that she made for the shoot and I was overwhelmed as always. The London Victorian Ring Company for the beautiful ring delivered on the day of the shoot and the beautiful stationery suite from Claire at By Moon & Tide wedding calligraphy whose talents always astound me. Also the amazing floral talents of Jennifer Pinder with her gorgeous bouquet composed from flowers and foliage she took from her own garden emphasising the beauty of British flowers and arrangements. Finally but not at all least for Canadian Film Lab for their film processing prowess and Kodak Alaris for the film stock. Also my big thanks to model Lucie Rose Donlan who was brilliant fun to work with, a true professional and a young woman who reminded me we should fear the cynicism of age…
Because I have a real passion for film photography all of this editorial was shot on 35mm and medium format film. Because I’m a passionate Cornwall fine art wedding photographer, this connection between myself and the medium recording the images is essential, it’s what gives the photos the raw but also dream like state and quality that I strive for in my photography.
